much time occupied in the passages to and fro, but I have at present to wait the Department before I can have another Convenience on service; the distances are now so great that I am of opinion a Steamer might be advantageously employed, as an Officer despatched to the Districts named might in the hot weather perform an amount of work he could not possibly do with slow transport, under any circumstances. I think the Department requires a boat entirely at its disposal.
I may in conclusion observe that the Land Registry and Accountant work in which Mr. Power is engaged fully occupies the whole of his time, but it is increasing and must continue so to do if Kowloon and Causeway Bay are sold, and if that should occur an increase in that Branch of Department will be required.
